From Trauma to Triumph: Olivia Johnson’s Solo Mom Story

Dear Reader,

How are you?

I hope you've had some time to breathe after the back-to-school rush. I'm heading straight into fall with our new lineup of solo moms sharing their stories.

In this week's episode, I had the privilege of speaking with Olivia Johnson, an inspiring solo mom of four, entrepreneur, author, and global mental health advocate.

Olivia opens up about fleeing a toxic marriage, raising children who carry trauma, and finding healing through entrepreneurship, charity work, and authorship. From founding her HR company in Australia to launching international mental health initiatives, her story is a testament to strength and purpose.

🎙️ Listen to the Episode Below:

You'll Hear:

  • How Olivia rebuilt her identity after emotional abuse
  • Why she started a business out of necessity and made it work
  • About how she parent her traumatized children while healing herself
  • Why she wrote and published Echoes of Resilience
  • Encouragement for solo moms navigating domestic violence or mental health struggles

Remember, mama, you don’t have to parent alone. This conversation will uplift and remind you that you can turn your pain into purpose.

Remember you're not alone!

Quick Self-Care Tips For Busy Moms

#1: Take a Walk in Nature

A short walk, even with the kids or with a pet, can help you slow down and relax.

But it's not just about the physical action. Research shows that walking "releases endorphins, boosts mood, and reduces stress and anxiety".

So if you can, take a walk.

Quote of the day...

"God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day." ~ Psalm 46:5

#2: Create Something

I recently started painting and drawing. I find it soothes my mind when I'm stressed. I plan on doing a series about this soon.

But it's not about being an artist. It's about finding ways to help calm the chaos in our minds.

So whether it's adult coloring, crocheting, knitting, or writing poetry, you'll find that doing something creative will definitely help to calm you and give you a feeling of satisfaction as well.

Dear Reader, How are you? What would you do if you weren’t afraid? This is the title of a book by Michal Oshman. I want to share a quote from her book: ”Accepting the fact that you can’t fully control your life - relationships, career, health, ageing - is one of the greatest ways to manage fear”. Life is full of opportunities to be afraid, and as the New Year approaches, ask yourself: Are you fearful of what it brings? Or are you anticipating, hoping with all hope that you can quickly and...

Dear Reader, How are you? I have a strange habit: I love watching my children sleep. They look so peaceful, don’t they? Watching my boys, I’ve often wondered what they’re dreaming about. But have you ever stopped to consider why they can just drift off without a care in the world even after making a fuss about wanting to stay up? It’s because they are comfortable with you. They rest in the quiet certainty that you are there, and you will be there when they wake up. You too can have that same...

Dear Reader, How are you? Sunday mornings can be complicated. For some, it’s a rush to get the kids ready. Alone. For others, it’s sitting in a church service, looking around at families sitting together, and feeling a deep, quiet ache. You can be surrounded by people and still feel completely invisible. I want you to know that I understand that feeling. I’ve sat in those pews. I’ve felt like I was shouting into a void where no one could hear me. But there is a woman in the Bible who knew...
